What's in Season

If you do the family grocery shopping then you have noticed something that was not true when our parents and grandparents were growing up: there are no seasons in the American Super Market.
Most of our produce is grown in hot houses, year round, and mass produced.
We ship our food in from all over the country and all over the world.

I would wager that, because of this, most Americans today don't know when local produce is fresh or even available.

I will always encourage you to eat what is in season where you live.

Buying locally is good for your local economy, it's good for the environment, your food has less chance of being covered in pesticides because it is grown in smaller quantities with more care, and your food will taste better because it is fresh.
